There are a plenty of situations when you feel like giving up. It seems like a better option indeed. And the easiest, for sure. It is a very difficult task to stay positive all the time but you can go through a lot of examples who are portraying example of sustenance of life.
Remember this thing : You are not the only one who is suffering. There are a lot who are facing the same situation as yours and they are still happy with it.
The story of this girl as narrated by a fellow quoran, Navneet Mishra, is one of those examples from which you can get inspiration of living life to the fullest extent of happiness without complaining about the present situation.
Five Years Back:
I saw a girl working in KFC, Cannought Place(Delhi) during one of my many office visits.
Girl looked pretty tired, her eyes revealed how she was short of sleep(I make it a point to talk to strangers, particularly people like these because they always have interesting stories).
Me : Hey, don’t you feel you need to sleep???
She : Yeah, my shift ends in an hour. I will sleep straight after that(she said with an infectious smile almost as if she wasn’t tired at all).
Three months later, I went back and she was pretty much the same(tired eyes and even tired body language).
This time she replied that she couldn’t sleep yesterday as she had some household chores.
That night I felt pity for her and understood how she is overworking, but the story didn’t end there.
I saw her walking out of a hospital that very night.
I thought of giving her free lift, considering it was dark and also because it was Delhi.
Me : Hey, if you dont mind, can I drop you? You look groggy.
She hesitated for a bit but reluctantly agreed. When I saw her report which she was hiding, my heart stopped for a moment. She was suffering from stage three cancer and had zero chances of survival.
She : I only have probably four to five months left(Even though she was sad, she was not crying, had a content look on her face and was not looking for sympathy).
I was still in disbelief for next ten minutes and asked why she was working instead of taking rest. She said, “I have one sister to take care of. She is in tenth standard and would require money to pay for her tuition fees”.
I believe this is what exactly is maturity, Attending to your responsibility.
Slightest of the fever becomes our excuse for taking a leave and there she was, working during a stage three cancer just because she didn’t want her sister to leave school because of lack of money! That’s what you call a real inspiration. Huge salute to the girl.
