But even after being this much giant industry, why does people want to get rid of it ? Yes, as the title suggests Uber has been banned in London by Transport for London (TFL). You must be thinking why ? Why was UBER banned ?

In London, the firm has confronted feedback from unions, officials and customary Black Cab drivers over working conditions. Opponents additionally assert it causes gridlocked streets and does not do what’s necessary to manage its drivers. Uber empowers clients to book cabs utilizing their cell phones, and is accessible in urban areas over the UK. Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: “I fully support TfL’s decision – it would be wrong if TfL continued to license Uber if there is any way that this could pose a threat to Londoners’ safety and security. Any operator of private hire services in London needs to play by the rules.”

Labour MP Wes Streeting, chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Taxis, said: “Uber has not shown itself to be a fit and proper operator. It stands accused by the police of failing to properly handle serious allegations of rape and sexual assault of passengers.”

Way out for UBER :

As UBER’s license is going to expire on 30th September so it is still active in London. Uber has the provision to appeal a licensing decision within 21 days. Transport for London said Uber can continue to operate until all appeals are exhausted.

Confirming Uber would appeal against the decision in court, Tom Elvidge, the firm’s general manager in London, said: “3.5 million Londoners who use our app, and more than 40,000 licensed drivers who rely on Uber to make a living, will be astounded by this decision. By wanting to ban our app from the capital Transport for London and the Mayor have caved in to a small number of people who want to restrict consumer choice. If this decision stands, it will put more than 40,000 licensed drivers out of work and deprive Londoners of a convenient and affordable form of transport.”

Well it is not yet clear whether UBER’s services will be stopped or continue in London but one thing is sure that UBER’s feedback is being degraded due to sexual assaults and other such cases in the past and it will be a big shock for the company if it does not gets to continue its services.

Let’s hope for the best.
